I have stayed at the Tuscany 3 times in the past 4 years. It's nice to stay off the strip every now and then, and I usually make the Tuscany my place to go. Yes, it is off the strip, but it is still close to the strip, about a 10-15 minute stroll. It's no more than 10 minutes to the back entrance of Bally's by their sports and race book. The 'hotel' is actually 15 or 16 smaller, 3-story buildings spread out over the property. If you rent a car, you can find parking right outside your door, which is a definite plus. The rooms are large and come with a couch, chair, a dining table and a small kitchenette (no dishes) with a microwave and small fridge. The beds are a bit firm for my liking, but it's not the worst hotel room bed I have ever had. The rooms could use some updating and having an elevator at both ends of the hallway, rather than just one would be nice. The staff are not too bad. Some are quite pleasant and others not so much. You get you questions and whatever answered, it's just the attitude of the staff member. The casino itself is small, usually with lots of locals. The machines are not too bad, your regular 'run-of-the-mill for how casinos go. Video Poker was decent (8/5) and the poker room has some rocks and some fish. Mostly 3/6 Limit, but our table all agreed and made it into a 2-10 Spread Limit which was a lot of fun. As I said earlier, lots of locals, so if you can act the part of a drunken tourist, play a solid game, you'll do well...I like the 24 hour restaurant they have too. Very reasonable prices and large portions... They have a steak and eggs special after midnight I think it is for $2 or $3, but you need to ask for it as it is not on the menu.I also like the closeness of Ellis Island, which has great food, and decent paying machines and the AM/PM I think it is next door for munchies and beer. The one thing that I really do not like about the Tuscany, is that taxis do not frequent this property very much. I have had to wait up to 30 minutes for a cab to arrive. It would have been quicker to walk to Bally/s or Bill's then get a cab from there.
