Harrah’s Atlantic City WSOP Circuit Event

December 14th kicked off the Harrah’s A. C. leg of the World Series of Poker circuit events for the 08/09 season. 179 hopefuls including several big names and many other pros including a prominent sports figure all entered the race for the prize money and the coveted WSOP circuit event ring.

The event started at noon Sunday, I didn’t make it until about 5pm. At that time the tournament was at level 5 and the field had already slimed down to 150 players for the 3 day event. The buy in for this tournament was $5150.00 and as I made my way around the room Bill Gazes dressed in a red shirt and matching red Full Tilt cap seemed to be taller and had more chips than the rest of the field.

I saw several well knowns such as Brett Jungblut, Erick Haber ,whom Id seen and eventually took down the Caesar’s circuit event last season, and also Jason Young fresh off his bracelet win in 2008 event #17 at the WSOP in Las Vegas. Jason also had a good showing in the 08 main event and had a lot of air time sitting next to Ray Romano during the tournament.

A few players I didn’t see yet I was informed by the Poker News team were Chris Reslock, Rick Rosetti, and John Racener. Apparently I also missed fame Bears quarterback Jim McMahon whom I guess wanted a WSOP ring to go with his super bowl ring.

Day 1 ended with 35 players left for today’s fight for a final table seat. I will keep everyone posted on the results. This is how play ended Day 1 and chip counts. I wish good luck to the remaining players as its time for me to go.
