  • Resort fees still climbing

    Tropicana is now $20
    Riviera is now $15

In some cases these fees add almost 50% more to the cost of the room.

Riviera is offering free wifi in the rooms for the fee.
Eastside Cannery is offering free wifi in their rooms for NO RESORT FEE at all and competes with the Riviera rate.
Weekday rack rates at the Riviera and at the Eastside Cannery often come up the same $40, but without a resort fee, the Eastside Cannery is $15 cheaper or 38% cheaper with the same amenities.

Staying on Boulder we have Sam's Town for a free show at 2 PM each Thursday. Earn 200 points in full pay deuces, or any play, and use the ACG coupon for a free buffet.

The Eastside Cannery 2/4 poker is pretty friendly with usual plenty of sports talk around the table, and there is a great Latin Lounge act on Monday night (with $1.50 Eastside Cannery beers) as well as full pay Deuces in Sam's Town.

The 202 Flamingo bus goes right to the center of the strip in about 49 minutes for $5 for 24 hours as compared to $8 for strip 24 hour passes. And the 202 won't be crowded and the traffic won't stall as it does on Las Vegas Blvd.A
lso, along Flamingo are many opportunities for eating or shopping.
The HDX and the BHX run along Boulder and head to downtown. Sam's Town also has a free shuttle to the strip and to downtown at certain times of the day.
In the other direction the buses can get you all the way to Henderson, or to the Sunset Station casino.

If you stay at Sam's Town there is a small $5 resort fee, but no free wifi.

Call ahead if you book and don't see the resort fee listed in the fine print of any hotel. They go up without warning. Call and ask about previously booked rooms to see if the new fee applies to your booking. They won't tell you and usually you aren't grandfathered into the deal you made, but will be expected to pay the new fee. If that happens, keep complaining.

Thanks Dewey for the great detail. What do know about the Longhorn Casino?

The Longhorn does not attract me much, but I use my coupons while I'm there. The initial signup will get some benefit and I've heard the food isn't bad. It is small and local and there is not good VP.
