An interesting article. However, the situation seems similar to many cities that rely too much on casino gambling. Look at what is happening in Atlantic City. It's a similar story.
About 12 years ago I visited Deadwood with my wife and two kids. We had a very nice time. The most interesting thing about playing in the casinos was that they allowed children to stand next to their parents while they were gambling. I never saw that anywhere else. It was a little strange to see kids standing on the casino floor by the machines and table games! -
