  • Deadwood feeling the pressure

Gradually now established gambling venues feel the pressure from the explosion of new casinos built with more to come.

An interesting article. However, the situation seems similar to many cities that rely too much on casino gambling. Look at what is happening in Atlantic City. It's a similar story.

About 12 years ago I visited Deadwood with my wife and two kids. We had a very nice time. The most interesting thing about playing in the casinos was that they allowed children to stand next to their parents while they were gambling. I never saw that anywhere else. It was a little strange to see kids standing on the casino floor by the machines and table games!

Very unusual. Well, maybe I'll get there one day, but I won't be bringing any children.
